2010-02-05 17:07:18 >> VIDEOS FOR PANTS online exhibition You are cordially invited to the opening of the VIDEOS FOR PANTS online exhibition at: start: 6 pm (CET) / 5th February 2010 (Friday) Selected videos are contributed by: Bartek Arobal, Stefan Botez with Paul Dunca, Patryk Chilewicz, Fanny Paul Clinton with Natasha Rees, Grzegorz Dziedzicki, Marcin Gajewski, Brian Kenny, Jay Barry Matthews, Slava Mogutin and Gio Black Peter, Jan Szewczyk. "The idea was very simple. Dicks appear on our pants and later those pants go to the DIK Fagazine fans. DIK's dicks on dicks, right? The first people who got to test them were DIK's friends from all over the world. Artists, young creators, readers of the magazine. Each of them would get a pair of briefs before they go on sale. Simultaneously, I would aks them to make a short video explaining how they would wear them. A video with pants in exchange for pants. All submitted films can now be seen on www.mariosdik.com. Admire their creativity but also remember: this is not the end of this project!" Karol Radziszewski skomentuj (0) 2010-01-19 12:11:39 >> MONICA Monika Zawadzki Exhibition. Installation including Graphic Sculpture Curated by Romuald Demidenko Exhibition: January 22 / February 13, 2010 Vernissage: 22 January 2010 at 7.00 pm Design Gallery - BWA Wroclaw Swidnicka Str. 2 - 4 Sometimes when I feel I've come close to understanding Monika, I suggest an idea which means a continuation but she finds it contrary to her work. The sculpture is a result of various emotions that it features, different moments. We used to call it a work on love but now we rather talk about the process: afiliation, deconstruction, utopia, discomfort. We still do not know what it is going to look like - in principle, the design should not be complete. Her practice is reluctantly called graphic design. The most well-known works are drawings of silhouettes filled with black. The newest installation for the solo exhibition 'Monica' is a transposition of graphic ideas and signs into the three-dimensional reality. Carefully selected motifs have been used as ingredients of the new form of abstract sculpture. The idea was to design a spatial form based on a graphic image, that can be approached from all sides like a monument. A world represented on a paper surface is reverted to its three-dimensional character. The concept of the show assumes a rearrangement of the Design Gallery space. The crucial moment is entering, directly to the centre of the display, which is invisible from the street. We planned to reverse the situation in which one comes to a graphics exhibition to see works as printed matter. The aim is to expand the process of graphic design with atypical means in space. Romuald Demidenko ![]() MONICA Monika Zawadzki.
